Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Hoofoot.net ("Hoofoot", "we", "us") is a free website for football highlights, full match replays, live scores and match information. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit hoofoot.net, how it is used, which partners help us run and fund the site, and the choices and rights you have.

For any privacy question or request, email us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

You do not need an account to use Hoofoot.net, and we never ask for your name, address or payment details to browse the site.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and browser data: browser type and version, operating system, screen size, language and device type.
  • Usage data: pages you view, videos you play, time spent, links you click and the page that referred you.
  • IP address and approximate location: your IP address is processed by our hosting, security, analytics and advertising partners and is used to infer an approximate (city or country level) location.
  • Cookies and similar identifiers: cookie IDs, advertising identifiers and local storage values, as explained in sections 4 to 6.

Information you give us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message. We use it only to reply to you and to handle your request.

3. How We Use Information

  • To run the site, deliver videos and live scores, and remember settings such as your language.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, bots and fraud, and fix technical problems.
  • To understand how the site is used (for example which leagues and pages are popular) so we can improve it.
  • To show advertising, which keeps Hoofoot.net free, and to measure how ads perform.
  • To answer emails, copyright notices and privacy requests.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests to run, secure and improve the site, on your consent for non-essential cookies such as personalised advertising and analytics where consent is required, and on legal obligations where they apply.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We and our partners also use similar technologies such as local storage, pixels and scripts. They fall into these groups:

  • Strictly necessary: needed for security, load balancing and core features. Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may set cookies to protect the site against bots and attacks.
  • Preferences: local storage values that remember choices such as your language and player settings. They stay on your device.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies that count visits and show how pages are used (see section 6).
  • Advertising: cookies and identifiers set by advertising partners to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure results and, where allowed, personalise ads (see section 5).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may stop some parts of the site from working, but blocking advertising and analytics cookies will not stop you from watching highlights.

5. Advertising

Hoofoot.net is funded by advertising. Ads on the site are served by third-party advertising companies, which may include Google (Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager), Newor Media and the demand partners it works with, Adsterra and Monetag. The companies authorised to sell our ad space are listed publicly in our ads.txt file.

These companies may use cookies, web beacons, advertising identifiers and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites, such as your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you view and the ads you see or click. They use it to serve ads, to cap how often an ad is shown, to measure ad performance, to prevent ad fraud and, where you allow it, to show ads based on your interests. Their use of this information is governed by their own privacy policies.

Opting out of other vendors

You can opt out of personalised advertising from many third-party vendors at aboutads.info, networkadvertising.org and, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu. Opting out does not remove ads; you will still see ads, but they will be less related to your interests.

Partner privacy policies

6. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, for example how many people visit, which pages and videos are viewed and which devices are used. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes your IP address; it does not give us your name or contact details. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7. Consent and Your Choices

  • Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): where the law requires it, personalised advertising and analytics cookies are only used after you consent through the consent message shown on the site, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time.
  • Browser controls: block or delete cookies, or use private browsing.
  • Industry opt-outs: use the Google Ads Settings and the opt-out pages listed in section 5.
  • Global Privacy Control: where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.

8. Your US State Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell or Share)

If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request access to it or its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, including for targeted (cross-context behavioural) advertising. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing advertising partners to collect identifiers, browsing and device information through cookies on our site for targeted advertising may count as "selling" or "sharing" under these laws. The categories involved are identifiers (such as IP address and cookie IDs), internet or network activity, and approximate geolocation, disclosed to the advertising and analytics partners named in sections 5 and 6.

To opt out, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, use the opt-out tools in section 5, or email [email protected] with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share". You can also send access, deletion or correction requests to the same address, or have an authorised agent do so for you.

9. Your Rights in the EEA, UK and Other Regions

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Because we do not run user accounts, most data about your visit is held by our analytics and advertising partners under identifiers we cannot link to you; their opt-out tools above are the fastest way to control it. For anything we hold, such as emails you have sent us, contact [email protected]. We reply within 30 days.

10. Data Retention

Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of Google Analytics and then deleted. Security logs are kept for short periods by our hosting provider. Advertising partners keep data according to their own policies.

11. International Transfers and Security

Our hosting and our partners operate worldwide, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. We use HTTPS on every page and limit access to the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

12. Children's Privacy

Hoofoot.net is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them or allow interest-based advertising to be targeted at them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

13. Third-Party Content and Links

Live scores, line-ups and statistics come from third-party sports data providers; no personal data about you is sent to them. Some pages contain embedded content or links to other websites, such as video platforms, which may collect data under their own privacy policies when you interact with them. We are not responsible for the practices of other websites.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices, partners or the law change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised. Please check this page from time to time.
